FC Legendinhos on Ice
Just finished this video today. This is a video showing the end of season xmas party we did for FC Legendinhos at Midsouth Ice House in Olive Branch, MS. We skated for around 2hrs and the kids didn't want to leave. All they could say was when do we get to do this again! Hope you guys enjoy.

R9: Pra Sempre Fenomeno
Known simply as O Fenomeno or Ronaldo Fenemeno this is a great video by Nike to show behind the scenes of his last game. Some stars shine so bright that they can only be here for a short period of time. That is the way I feel about Ronaldo. He is probably the greatest striker to ever play the game but he has had so many problems with his knees that we got about 1/2 of his career. The same applies to Mario Lemieux in hockey. Both players may be the greatest ever in there respective sports but injury and cancer did their best to stop them...they couldn't fully. Just watch the video and remember all the joy and magic that this player brought us... Pra Sempre Fenomeno or Forever The Phenomenon in English.

Ricardinho's UEFA Futsal Cup 2008/09 Memories
Wow first time I've heard of or seen this player. Amazing and exactly as I like to see the game played. Play fast, play beautiful, play futsal...Center Circle's Winter Futsal League begins Monday.
First Week of Futsal
Hope everyone is as excited for the start of the league as we are! We set up the goals yesterday, and of course had to try them out for a couple hours...just to make sure they were safe.
Along with the start of the league tomorrow we wanted to be sure to pass on some of the facility rules.
First is that only water is allowed in the gym. No other beverages as they can spill on the floor and can affect the floor and the games. This is for players and parents.
Also we only have the gym rented not the hallways and classrooms so please do not allow your children to go run and play through the hallways. People are allowed to leave the gym to use the restrooms other than that please try to stay in the gym.
Only players allowed on the benches and there is no coaching! Please allow your kids to experiment and be creative in a stress free environment. This is the time for them to do it so they can learn when and how to do tricks and moves that will carry into outdoor soccer.

Euro 2012 ball - Adidas Tango 12
from www.theoriginalwinger.com
Today, adidas and UEFA presented the adidas “Tango 12″, the Official Match Ball for the UEFA EURO 2012(tm). The ball was unveiled on stage during the UEFA EURO 2012(tm) finals draw by former Ukrainian Olympic pole vaulter Sergey Bubka.
Based on the classic Tango design used during both the FIFA World Cup(tm) and UEFA EURO(tm) tournaments during the early 1980s, the adidas Tango 12 features a modern interpretation of the design including a coloured outline inspired by the flags of the two host nations – Poland and Ukraine. Etched into the Tango design are three bespoke graphics which celebrate the decorative art of paper cutting, a tradition in the rural areas of both host countries and link to the key characteristics of football – unity, rivalry and passion.
“The adidas Tango 12 is based on an iconic design which is known by players and football fans throughout the world, and it is great to see the design reinterpreted in such a creative fashion for the UEFA EURO 2012 tournament,” commented David Taylor, CEO of UEFA Events SA.
Complementing the design, the adidas Tango 12 features a series of triangular panels that are thermally bonded together to ensure a true, stable flight path. Covering each panel of the ball is a grip texture which supports boot to ball contact and enhances ball control. Beneath the outer surface of the ball lies a woven carcass and a new bladder for increased air retention and reduced water uptake.
The adidas Tango 12, which has been developed over a two-year period, underwent two rigorous types of testing – qualitative player testing, which was conducted across eight different countries, using players, federations and clubs from both elite and grass roots football, and quantitative lab testing, which concluded that the adidas Tango 12 meets and exceeds all FIFA Approved Standards for an Official Match Ball making it the most tested ball adidas has ever produced.
adidas Group CEO Herbert Hainer commented: “The adidas Tango 12 is a combination of many years of football tradition coupled with extensive player and lab testing to make it the most tested ball adidas has ever produced.”
The adidas Tango 12 is the eleventh Official Match Ball produced for the UEFA EURO(tm) tournament leading on from a rich history in adidas football development which started in 1963. During that period, three Tango inspired designs have been produced for the UEFA EURO(tm) tournaments – the 1980 Tango River Plate, the 1984 Tango Mundial and the 1988 Tango Europa – making the adidas Tango 12 the fourth in its history.
The adidas Tango 12 will be used on field during the UEFA EURO 2012(tm) which kicks off on June 8th when tournament hosts Poland take to the field at The National Stadium Warsaw. All competing federations will receive an allocation of thirty Official Match Balls during the week commencing December 5th, six months ahead of the tournament, for training and competitive use. The adidas Tango 12 is available for purchase in adidas retail outlets and associated stockists as of December 3rd.

Eden Hazard
I know LFC spent almost the entire summer courting this player and working with the club. Now with Joe Cole more than likely gonna stay at Lille I think if we are in the Champions League we have a good chance at picking him up. Watch the video as he is about to be a top 5 player in the world.

Common Listening Session The Dreamer/TheBeliever
This is a tie in with the music and soccer side of things. I just got inspired by this video for trying to do some kind of premiers for events and leagues that we are doing. Inviting all the soccer people involved or even like minded people to all get together in celebration of what we are doing. Along with that this is for one of the best albums that will be dropping this year and positive hip-hop. Be on the look out for the use of the song playing in this video on a Center Circle video soon.

Sorry it's taken me a couple days to post this but there is no way I couldn't. Now if he can just find those scoring boots for LFC...
Official Futsal Lines
Over the Christmas and New Years break for this year's Winter Futsal league the floor is being re done and official Futsal lines will be placed on the court. This will make it the only official Futsal court in this area that we know of.
Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain Training Goals | Belgium U21 vs England U21 14/1...

Crump Stadium goals
Today myself and Conni helped the MCS (Memphis City Schools) Athletic director Shawn Matsunaga build goals in Crump Stadium downtown. These goals will be used on their new Enviro Turf field for MCS games and GIT games. They were provided and helped to be put together by Midsouth FC. This is the 2nd set we have put together (Melrose Stadium) was the first. Nothing like building a couple of 11 v 11 goals for a workout...

FC Barcelona - Opening Ceremony La Masia (live)
Really surprised how under reported this has been in America and maybe the world. La Masia Barcelona's youth academy has built a new 9 million euro facility to better accomodate their youth 32 years later after the original La Masia was opened. This is the same academy that has produced Xavi, Iniesta, Pedro, Pique, Fabregas, Messi, Victor Valdez, etc. The New Masia was opened yesterday with a huge opening ceremony which is all hear for you to see. If you just want to see the inside ff to about the 33 min.
Mas Que un Academia.

Thoughts on Training Progression
As I continue to make my living from coaching I am always learning. From the worlds best on tv or from coaches at our local facilities. I know everyone has their own methodology but I feel there has to be a certain progression and age specific topics that have to be taught. I have not figured out what is the perfect progression and balance to Technique/Coordination&Fitness/Tactics but I know that I am looking and much closer than a year or two ago.
What I am figuring out is that it changes as the players grow physically and mentally mature. I think U7-U9 its mainly coordination and technique and individual attacking and defending skills/movements. U10-U12 is when tactics begin to really get introduced but since players can still learn coordination it is very important that motor coordination fitness and technique are the basis of all sessions. After U12 I feel that about every two years the progression should be more towards tactics and less towards technique with a fair amount of the fitness still in there.
I know much like coaching itself it will be a process but what excites me is that there has to be a perfect balance and formula out there that will maximize a player and teams potential. Much like physical fitness itself there is an art and science to getting in shape and overdoing one thing or not enough of something else can be very detrimental to overall progress. That is what I am seeing with other teams in compared with mine. In a 6 month to a year plus teams can completely switch places as to who is better if the training is done in the proper progression. What I am noticing is that others may be doing things that aren’t bad for their teams but maybe at the wrong times and without the proper progression and it’s seriously slowing their progress in compared with my own teams. What I really want to figure out is what is the perfect balance and progression. That is the key to developing an entire program and club. It’s what I am trying to install with FC Legendinhos and Midsouth FC and Im very interested to see the results of the U9,10, & 11 teams I am currently in charge of.

Can't believe it took me so long to post this but better late then never. Please check out the video of Botafogo FR Academy U19's at Copa Memphis. They come over to get exposure to college teams in hopes that they can get a scholarship. I believe 7 of the boys are being seriously looked at. Enjoy.

FC LEGENDINHOS & ADVANCED REC
Shout out to Conni who made us take this pic even though all I wanted to do was have them play...so glad she did. This pic shows the absolute joy of these kids getting to play. Not only are they getting to play but they are succeeding and have the Midsouth youth director coming over to make sure they are getting enough competition.
Here is an example of why I wanted to start this club so bad...during water breaks the american kids all go sit along the fence and our boys get out and practice bicycle (overhead) kicks at the age of 5-7. Yes we have 5-7 year olds trying and completing bicycle kicks that 18 year old Americans can't do. FC Legendinhos is the future of soccer in this area and America.
If you don't make the change you desire to see you are part of the problem...

U21 European Championship
The first goal by Belarus is good but the team goals that Spain scores...unreal. We are in the time of the Spanish Soccer Revolution. Viva Espana! This is why everything I do is based on technique and possession. Like Drake says don't worry parents you can Thank Me Later when your kids are doing things like this.

Barcelona vs. Real Madrid - Rematch of Spain's Biggest Rivalry
Do you feel the excitement? I can not wait till tomorrow. It's going to be the first of almost 4 "classicos" in a row. Who wins what or does one team win all? I think Barca is the best team but I don't think that the greatest manager in any sport of all time (Jose Mourinho) makes the same mistake twice. Messi v Ronaldo, Mourinho v Guardiola, Villa v Ramos... bring on El Classico tomorrow on ESPN Deportes and ESPN 3.

Chad Ochocinco "eating humble pie" on 2nd day of trials with Sporting Ka...
I was wondering how this would work out...he seems serious and respectful. I say good luck Ochocinco. I wish he would have given me a month to train him before tryouts. $5 says I could have had his technique hugely improved and more than ready for the tryouts. Pelada Movie Screening
Friday Night April 1st we will be bringing Pelada The Movie to Memphis. The screening will be outdoors at The Avenue Carriage Crossing in Collierville. The grassy area next to Soccer USA will be where it will be shown and below are event details.
Tickets: http://peladamemphis-auto.eventbrite.com/
6:00pm - Arrive to claim your seats
Dusk - the movie will begin...
Immediately following the movie, we will host Peladas on two fields. one field for Adults and one field for Youth. Bring your soccer equipment and ball. Goals will be provided. Below is a description and link to the trailer
Two players. 25 countries. One game.
Away from professional stadiums, bright lights, and manicured fields, there’s another side of soccer. Tucked away on alleys, side streets, and concrete courts, people play in improvised games. Every country has a different word for it. In the United States, we call it “pick-up soccer.” In Trinidad, it's "taking a sweat." In England, it's "having a kick-about." In Brazil, the word is “pelada,” which literally means "naked"—the game stripped down to its core. It’s the version of the game played by anyone, anywhere—and it’s a window into lives all around the world.
Pelada is a documentary following Luke and Gwendolyn, two former college soccer stars who didn’t quite make it to the pros. Not ready for it to be over, they take off, chasing the game. From prisoners in Bolivia to moonshine brewers in Kenya, from freestylers in China to women who play in hijab in Iran, Pelada is the story of the people who play.

MCS Practice Sessions
At the coaches clinic we ran for the Memphis City Schools we offered to come out to practice and help these teams out as well. Raleigh-Egypt, Snowden, and Cordova have already taken us up on that offer. Last Thursday we ran a session on Ball Control and passing technique as well as the brazilian warmup for Raleigh-Egypt. On Friday we ran a session on Ball Control technique and Defending technique for Snowden. These sessions went great and we will be working with Cordova tomorrow (tuesday the 22nd).

Futsal Peladas Start This Weekend!
We have exciting news for everyone...futsal will continue until the end of March!
The players seemed to have a great time playing with each other Sunday playing “pelada” style and we have had many requests to keep Futsal going. So, we had a meeting with the church this morning and decided to offer a weekly "pelada" to satisfy the need and continue to improve the players. A "pelada" is the Brazilian word for a pick up game and is also to help educate the meaning of this word as April 1st we will be bringing the Pelada Movie to the Avenue at Carriage Crossing. This will be free of charge to everyone and shown outdoors on the wall at the grassy area next to Soccer USA. Also, we will be playing 5v5 at the mall "pelada" style after the viewing.
Pelada Information
- Dates 2/20, 2/27, 3/13, 3/20
- 2:00 - 3:30pm will be U10-U12/13
- 3:30 - 5:00pm will be U13/14 and up
- games start this sunday (2/20)

Ronaldo (O Fenomeno) retired today
My favorite player of all time retired today. In honor of O Feneomeno here are the 47 goals he scored in one season for FC Barcelona.
Enjoy
Legendinhos coming in April
April 8-10th the tournament that started it all returns to Mike Rose Soccer Complex. This is the only tournament we know of it's kind. We include (organize and register) our local international kids that play in their own leagues on rundown fields throughout the city. The fact that these kids never play with the mainstream club kids hurts both groups. Through competition we not only hope to breakdown barriers and bring everyone together, we hope to improve US Soccer as a whole.
